Design Goals
Zoe and Chris aimed to transform an underutilised space in their classic Queenslander into a functional laundry and mudroom. The design needed to cater to their family’s daily needs, including storage for kids’ school gear, a homework zone, and a crafting area for Zoe. The goal was to combine practical family-focused features with a timeless Hamptons aesthetic that respected the home’s character.

Laundry & Crafting Space
- Concealed Appliances: Washer and dryer hidden behind a sleek roller door, maintaining a clean and uncluttered appearance.
- Homework & Craft Zone:
- Homework Area: A dedicated space for the children to do their homework, conveniently located near the kitchen.
- Crafting & Gift-Wrapping Zone: A tailored area for Zoe’s hobbies, offering ample storage for supplies and a practical workspace.
Design Concept
The design maximises the functionality of the space while maintaining the classic charm of the Queenslander home. Warm natural finishes and thoughtful storage solutions create a practical and inviting area that blends seamlessly with the home’s aesthetic.
Outcome
The renovation turned an empty space into a multi-functional laundry and mudroom that caters to the family’s needs. The locker-style storage, concealed appliances, and dedicated zones for homework and crafting ensure practicality and organisation. The Hamptons-inspired design, with its natural wood accents and elegant cabinetry, complements the Queenslander home while elevating everyday convenience.
