Peter & Renee’s Kitchen
Location: North Lakes, QLD
Style: Traditional Hamptons
Design Goals
Peter and Renee aimed to renovate their outdated black-and-white kitchen, eliminating the awkward 45-degree angle on the island to create a more open, spacious feel. Key Design Features
Cabinetry
For a timeless feel, we selected a Traditional Hamptons profile with two-pack paint. Sleek black handles provide a subtle contrast, adding depth against the light cabinetry and tying in with the kitchen’s darker accents.
Benchtops
The benchtops are 40 mm YDL Stone Nivola Snow, chosen for its subtle base colour with white veining that complements the cabinetry. We replaced the original 900 mm island with a larger, 1200 mm deep island, removing the angled design and enhancing the workspace’s functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Feature Elements
- Backsplash: A striking black and grey elongated hex tile adds texture and depth, complementing the black handles and appliances for a cohesive, stylish look.
- Glass Display Cabinets: Positioned on either side of the range hood, these cabinets add visual interest and provide space for displaying decor items.
Storage Enhancements
- Pantry Replacement: The original walk-in pantry was replaced with a new built-in pantry system, which seamlessly integrates the fridge area with additional storage above, creating a cohesive and streamlined kitchen layout.
Layout Adjustments
- Island: Expanded the kitchen island to a larger, practical size without the angled design, offering more seating and workspace.
- Fridge Area: Integrated the fridge into the cabinetry, adding additional pantry storage above for maximised functionality and a seamless look.
Outcome
The redesigned kitchen eliminated outdated features, embracing a modern, elegant aesthetic with traditional Hamptons charm. The enlarged island and reimagined pantry offer enhanced functionality, while the combination of textures and finishes creates a welcoming, stylish space.
