Key Design Features
Space Integration
We removed the dividing wall between the kitchen and laundry, transforming the two small, enclosed rooms into a spacious open-plan area. By adjusting the position of the sliding glass door, we improved access, bringing in more natural light and creating a brighter, more inviting space.
Cabinetry & Storage
Removing the wall allowed us to incorporate a pantry, significantly boosting storage capacity. The cabinetry features a sleek modern gloss white finish, which adds brightness and complements the open layout’s clean, contemporary aesthetic.
Benchtops
We chose crisp white surfaces for a fresh, spacious look, extending the benchtop to provide additional workspace in line with the new layout’s functionality.
Laundry Integration
- Concealed Laundry: The washer and dryer were integrated behind a stylish timber roller door, allowing these appliances to be hidden when not in use, maintaining a streamlined kitchen appearance.
- Butler’s Pantry Feel: A mini butler’s pantry area was created, complete with an additional sink and coffee station, making effective use of the former laundry space.
Design Concept
Our goal was to maximise the available space while creating a seamless transition between kitchen and laundry. This integrated layout enhances functionality without sacrificing aesthetic appeal, making the most of the home’s footprint.
Outcome
The kitchen renovation provided Katie and Chris with a larger, multifunctional space that combines the kitchen and laundry into a unified area. The hidden laundry elements and added storage transformed what were once cramped rooms into a stylish, modern, and cohesive environment that enhances daily living.
